Kids’ Wisdom = Kidsdom !

I don’t know if a kid would actually say something like this to an older adult – at least without paying a penalty of some sort – but when I was a kid, I might’ve said something like this. In fact, I’m SURE I did.

We could start a page devoted to funny / clever / smart / wise things that you’ve heard kids say. Kind of like channeling Art Linkletter ( Showing my age….. 🙂 )

Have any young nieces, nephews, god – children that you know or are related to said any such things ? Feel free to share….. !

I’m not going to offer much commentary – political or otherwise here. Just a wish for a Merry Christmas & / or a non – denominational ” Happy Holidays “. Contrary to what Fox & the hyper – paranoid conservatives want us to believe, the followers of the Prophet are ** not ** lying in wait until they can storm our homes & blow us up or skewer us on / behead us with swords or other sharp objects.

Most of them just want to live their lives in peace like everybody else. What a concept.

Again – Merry Christmas / Happy Holidays – To ALL people of Good Faith ( or even no specific faith ) everywhere on Earth.

Fear

Fear ? It keeps us from doing crazy, irresponsible, irrational, things that could cause harm or death to ourselves or other people. It becomes an obstacle when it paralyzes our decision & action – taking. A very healthy resource otherwise. Perhaps even a companion ? Except when it gets in our ” driver’s seat ” & grabs the wheel.

This is really sad news, even though 91 year old former resident Carter is in remission from cancer. I wonder if there’s a site to send condolences or memorial contributions ?

Thoughts on ” Why I Hate Christmas Today “.

I beg to differ, & ” hate ” is a very strong word. Christmas is no longer wholly the celebration of the sacred that it used to be early / earlier in the 20th century ( 1940’s – 1950’s or 60’s ), & bear in mind that Christmas was a holiday devised by the Roman emperor Constantine to ” Christianize ” a pagan Roman festival of the Winter Solstice, but I love the holiday because. even though I haven’t practiced 1 specific religion in years,  Christmas is still a bright, emotionally warm spot in an otherwise cold & unpleasant  ( I DON’T do Winter well. I wish I could move someplace warmer, but that’s another story ) season that I wish I could hibernate through. A time for family, friends, neighbours & others. In my experience, people ARE generally kinder, more polite, warmer & more disposed to be charitable at this time than the rest of the year.

I find some of the commercial aspects of the season to grate on the nerves, but I grin & bear it. The memory of the Christmases of my relatively youthful years helps ( & a couple of glasses of whisky / brandy / vodka if available. 🙂 ). So, while I understand where the author is coming from, I definitely do NOT share their views 100 % or even 50 ( 30 ? ) %

John Lennon’s 75th Birthday –

He worked for peace through music & art. Passive resistance. Some people equated him Mahatma Gandhi & Martin Luther King, Jr.

I watched the televised tribute to him on AMC & am watching the encore presentation now.

May his hope & idea for a peaceful Christmas be recognized, after too many mindless acts of terrorism & violence, too many to count, over too many years…..
