Paranormal Paragraphs Challenge –

The lightning flashes. Thunder crashes. You are a rational person, but your most primitive instincts come to the surface when you realize you are alone, but not ” ALONE “, if you know what I mean. You think you’re being observed, but you turn around to find an empty parlor, den, lobby, store – room, or whatnot. You are confused, suspicious, & maybe just a tad apprehensive or scared.

You feel the chill of what may be, to use the slang term, a ” spook “. Or a revenant, phantom, poltergeist, or ghost. Is it going about its business, or does it bear jealousy or ill – will towards the mortals invading the space it normally inhabited in its time in the flesh ? Or perhaps curiosity ?

I have never had an experience that couldn’t be explained rationally, except for the very BRIEF feeling of being observed, when I worked in the supply area of a hospital. Hardly enough to weave a substantial story from, yes ? Maybe Rod Serling could…..

Have any of you had an encounter that you can’t explain by rational means, that could be expanded into a short – to – moderate story ?

If you feel like sharing, there are 28 more days in October. Feel free. Expand on it if you feel like it. If you haven’t had a seemingly paranormal experience, just go from your gut & write a short fictional one.

  1. My kitchen poltergeists will get upset if I talk about them, but I’m pretty sensitive to the horror genre so no films for me. When I close my eyes, the images are burnished in my mind. They’re hard to erase. Best of luck with the project. x

    1. I’m firmly astride the fence re. : anything paranormal. The square of the town where I live now has a reputation as being very haunted – Civil War activity & all that. I have been out there after / around midnight & have had no strange or unusual sightings other than a homeless guy who bugs random strangers. Nada, zed, zilch, goose – egg otherwise.
