I would put a picture of a certain blue box here, but most of my photos – Taken by me or downloaded from other sources – got wiped out when my computer had a nervous breakdown recently. I refer, of course, to the old yet new – borrowed blue, bigger on the inside iconic time / space travel – machine, the TARDIS. The preferred method of travel for the mysterious Time Lords of Gallifrey, notably the Doctor.
The last episode I saw was the season ( Series in British TV – talk ) finale of Peter Capaldi’s 1st run. Then my apartment changed cable providers. Direct TV doesn’t carry BBC or BBC America in its Basic cable package whereas Comcast did. I was beginning to warm to the 12th Doctor’s curmudgeonly exterior – then the building management changed to Direct TV, & issued the Fascist decree that everyone has to have the basic package.
Doctor Who, Torchwood reruns, Orphan Black, Atlantis, Sherlock, even Kitchen Nightmares with Gordon Ramsay & Top Gear – ACCESS DENIED.
What’s a Whovian / Anglo – videophile to do ? Dailymotion ? Hunger strikes are NOT an option, even though, I could use the weight – loss. Definitely. 🙂
I chalk up my love of British TV to a girl I dated in the 80’s who was a Whovian & went on about it until I gave in, watched the PBS – run ” classic ” episodes ( Tom Baker ) & got hooked. Also with Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.

Good luck with quenching that thirst. I absolutely love British TV. Can’t get enough of it. They don’t produce as much as the Americans but that is why I guess it’s more delightful.

Quality over quantity.
Some newer U.S. series ( ” 12 Monkeys ” on Syfy, ” Impastor ” on TVLand. ) are having very short seasons, then not returning until 2016.

” Impastor ” was pretty good. Michael Rosenbaum thinks about jumping from a bridge, a gay ( ! ) Lutheran pastor saves his life, then falls from said bridge himself. Michael R’s character takes his identity as the guy was en route to a new parish.
I like it, if only for the reason that it puts Christian Right types nickers in a twist. 🙂

I was totally hooked on David Tenet’s Dr. Who. (He was also great in Broadchurch, which has amazing cinematography,too.) I’ve been reticent to watch the current version, but will now given your response.

I liked both Christopher Eccleston & Matt Smith. Thought that David Tennant was a little too petulant & peevish about having to regenerate. None of the other Doctors seemed to think that it was like dying.
I may try dailymotion. They supposedly carry entire episodes of DW.

I liked seeing David Tennant, Matt Smith & John Hurt together in the 50th anniversary episode – then seeing John Hurt’s War Doctor regenerate into Eccleston’s 9th Doctor. THEN seeing Matt Smith meet Tom Baker. Completely EPIC.

I can’t say I’ve seen any episodes of Dr. Who–old or new. Okay, I can say I haven’t seen any episodes. I’ve wanted to. I really wanted to. Maybe one day. But regarding British TV, I really do love the old Faulty Towers and Monty Python episodes. They certainly have a wonderful air about them that American TV is hard pressed to replicate.

I’ve seen a fair amount of British TV courtesy of PBS in the U.S., & after having had BBC America 2010 – until my apartment complex changed cable – satellite providers in April. Better than the majority of American TV.
Monty Python was crazy, really out there. Old – fashion sketch comedy. I was also getting into ” Orphan Black ” & ” Sherlock ” before they plugged us into another cable company, the fascists.

My apartment building changed cable satellite providers. While one carried more channels like BBC America, service was dodgy. The other provider = Better service, fewer basic channel options. Kind of a coin – toss.
Most of the time, my telly is just an extra light source in the den / living room anyway.
