Weekend ‘Galaxy’ Insight –Beyond Pluto? Discovery of an Unseen 9th Planet (VIDEO)

A little something to take our minds off of the crummy weather outside.

It’d be great if the New Horizons probe sent to observe Pluto could be re – directed to head towards this ” new ” planet, but it is / was moving at an unusually high speed compared to past Earth probes, & I guess reprogramming the craft to alter its course would be difficult. Still, a future unmanned mission there would be a real feat. As chilly as it is now to a lot of us, I’m sure this new 9th world would make wintertime Earth look like Tahiti, Bora Bora or Arizona in the height of summer.

The neat thing is that there are extremeophiles – Flora & fauna that can exist anywhere on Earth, adapt & even THRIVE – in even the most inhospitable of environments = The geothermal vents undersea, deserts like the Atacama & the Gobi, Antarctica, etc.

Bacteria were even found on a piece of a Soviet probe retrieved from the near – vacuum of the Moon.

So – life of SOME kind, even if it’s unicellular or similar to a lichen, could exist on this wanderer on the fringe of the solar system.life-on-other-planets-neil-degrasse-tyson <—– Dreams of going ice – fishing on the moon of Jupiter, Europa, so he says. 🙂
