I still find it credibility – straining that Martin Luther King, Jr., was a Republican as some people have claimed. Yes, it’s true ( Or at least accepted ) the Republican party favored abolishing slavery, but the Republican party of that period was probably radically different from TODAY’s Republican Party. In fact I’d bet even money on it.
The GOP is the party of the Gulf War, ” hawks “, the one – percent, the crushers of dreams, that could care LESS about the environment, equal rights for all, health care, truth. They seem to care about a Christian Taliban more than the Constitution, & whether or not one is sleeping with someone of the same sex.
Together with the Religious Right, they seem to favor a theocracy with dashes of George Orwell’s ” Big Brother ” mixed in.
Hardly anything Dr. King would approve of.
Despite the Civil Rights Movement, racism is as rampant in America as it was when Dr. King marched and revealed his dream.
