Be neutral, a kind note for authors

Ah, the politics of publishing. A delicate balance, it would seem.

  1. I see too many authors crying about the wider audience in front of the wider audience. How does the author have the upper hand when the purchasing power is with the buyer’s hands? People bought copies of Harry Potter to burn them. It helped create massive publicity for the upcoming series. PR gold. Do you think JK Rowling was crying over burnt copies when she became the first billionaire author? Or was she thanking her lucky stars she never has to worry about looking after her family?

    1. I would say that JKR was smiling on her way to the bank. I’d heard that she was HOMELESS before being published.
Oh, yes, the people doing incendiary violence to her book were probably evangelical & fundamentalist Christians. They keep getting Jesus confused with Adolph Hitler. 🙂
